Almost the opposite of Horror and dark humour, I class anything that is very light-hearted in nature as Whacky. Light-hearted stories often don't take much mental effort to read, and often let their characters go "out of character" for jokes. However there is only so far a reader's suspension of disbelief can be pushed before a comic starts to feel like they make no sense. Whacky Comics tend to avoid being pinned down and will often cross into other genres as they see fit, so if I class a Comic as Whacky then expect to see a lot of the other genres appearing briefly. | ||
Lum (Urusei Yatsura)Rumiko Takahash is a famous name in Manga, both in the Western world and in Japan - mostly for the Ranma ½ and InuYasha Manga series. Not everyone in the West knows about some of her older works, however. Posted Wednesday 12th August 2009 by Crazy Choco

Phoenix Wright: Ace AttorneyImagine my joy as I discovered that there was going to be an Ace Attorney Manga. But unfortunately both me and all the other Phoenix Wright fans have a big disappointment coming up. Posted Thursday 12th November 2009 by Crazy Choco

S.S. AstroS.S. Astro is 4 panel strip staring the teachers of the titular Japanese school. It’s set out like a newspaper strip, though I’m not sure I could imagine a newspaper that would actually carry it. Posted Sunday 28th November 2010 by Crazy Choco

Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei (Goodbye, Mr. Despair)Basically it’s a kind of Japanese Satire. Not all of the jokes translate well to English, but a lot of the humour is quite multinational, so the translators obviously decided that this would be a good Manga to translate anyway even if not everyone will get all of the jokes.
